September 19, 2007 Hello Altar Servers, Last Saturday we trained eight new servers for our happy band, so we now have 58 altar servers from 48 families. That means, with 7 masses each weekend and 3 servers per mass, everyone should be able to serve at least once every 3-4 weeks. If you'd like to be a regular at the 7 or 8 a.m. or 12:30 p.m., you could serve even more often. The 9:30 and LifeTeen masses, being more popular, often have a 5 week rotation, so I usually schedule servers who prefer those two masses for an additional second choice mass periodically (just so you don't get too rusty). As always, if I'm consistently putting you in a difficult time, it probably means I have out-dated info from your preference sheet (found on the contact sheet attached here). Email me your corrections and we'll try to make your Sundays a little less frantic in the future. A couple of weeks ago when we learned our training session would have to be postponed to Sept., I sent out an interim one-month schedule for Sept. 15- Oct. 7 with NEW SERVER slots scattered throughout. Well, now our new servers have names and I've added them in bold type to the revised schedule attached here. NEW SERVERS: For these four weeks ONLY, I have scheduled you in the very first time slot available that was either your first or second choice. (So I could get you serving quickly.) You are all paired with experienced servers who will be glad to help you out. With the next schedule, which will run October through February, I will try to get you all closer to your first choices and (for those of you who so requested) serving with your siblings. SENIOR SERVERS: Please note that you're probably going to have a novice server with you for the next several masses. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you be there early to help the novice vest and answer his/her questions, if any. If you are not able to make your assignment, please let me know who your substitute is. We do not want to unduly stress any of our new folks if we can help it. We will post the Sept. schedule in the sacristy and the vestibule. It will also be posted on the parish website. If you are unable to meet your assignment, it is your responsibility to find a substitute. If you're not successful after a couple of tries, contact me and I'll take care of it.
