Eagle of the Cross Award Recipient
Our Lady of the Fields is proud to announce that Vincent Walden has been selected by the Archdiocese of Baltimore to receive the Eagle of the Cross award. The award is presented to young Catholics between the ages of 15 and 25 who best exemplify apostolic action, moral integrity, and Christian leadership.
Vincent Walden, a 17-year-old homeschooled high school senior, exemplifies living our Catholic faith. He has been a part of both our middle school and high school youth ministries for several years. Vincent serves as a Peer Minister who helps plan and run Lifeteen events and guide other teens in their faith. Vincent is very involved in helping to raise funds for the High School Youth Ministry. He serves as a Eucharistic Minister at the 6pm Sunday mass, is a catechist for one of our third grade Faith Formation classes, and volunteers his time to help raise money for disadvantaged youth by participating in swim-a-thons, our Winter Relief program as well as our Summer Madness Middle school program. In addition, Vincent helps with childcare for the Women in Faith ministry at Our Lady of the Fields. He is a proud attendee of the Steubenville retreats for the last four years and in 2017, he participated in a week-long “LEAD” retreat — a prayer-filled immersion program in Catholic teaching, leadership, evangelization, and discipleship.
Vincent was congratulated by Bishop Brennan on May 16 at Catholic Center in Baltimore. He will be presented with the Eagle of the Cross award by Monsignor Jay O’Connor and Archbishop William Lori at the 12:30pm Mass on Sunday, June 3 at Our Lady of the Fields in Millersville.
The following people were also nominated for this award: Sean Mihaly, Victor Esposito, Gabby Wells, Peter Jauschnegg. We would like to recognize them for their outstanding service to our parish and community.
Please join us in congratulating Vincent in this wonderful achievement and pray for him for continued success in his future endeavors.
