O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!  Psalm 95:1-2

The music ministry of Our Lady of the Fields strives to uphold one of the Bishops’ statement on music ministry; that is that the “music should assist the assembled believers to express and share the gift of faith that is within them and to nourish and strengthen their commitment of faith.”

Our four very diverse music ministry groups offer the opportunity for members to share their gifts in different ways.

Adult Choir

The adult choir ensemble uses a variety of traditional and contemporary liturgical music with their main focus on encouraging full, conscious and active participation by all. The adult choir ministers at the 9:30am mass September through May and rehearse Wednesday evenings. New members are always welcome. No audition is required.

Cantors

Cantors (teens and adults) are visible leaders in our liturgies who possess the tools to lead prayer and worship through our liturgies. They are responsible for proclaiming the Responsorial Psalm and leading the assembly in song as well as teaching the assembly new music. Cantors meet as a group for rehearsals the last Tuesday of each month, and with the music director separately as needed. Cantors are scheduled approximately once every 3-4 weeks. Cantors minister at the Saturday 5:00pm mass and Sunday 8:00am, 9:30am and 12:30am masses.  Auditions are required.
