Pastoral Council

Charter

Our Lady of the Fields Pastoral Council is comprised of fifteen volunteers who are elected by the parish or appointed by the Pastor. The normal term of office is two years.  Working with the Pastor, the clergy, other parishioners, and the church office staff, the Pastoral Council helps to define and accomplish the mission and ministry of the Church.  The Pastoral Council meets monthly and makes recommendations to the Pastor regarding a wide variety of matters, including parish activities and ministries, spending priorities, fundraising, new policies and procedures, and strategic plans and goals.  The Pastoral Council offers a forum for dialogue and communication between the Pastor and the parishioners.

I have been a member of OLF since 1976 and have taught CCD when my children were growing up back when the classes were all held in individual homes.  I am now teach both of my grandchildren in the RCIC program and look forward to them receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion next year at OLF.  In addition, I am a Eucharistic minister as needed.

I am now serving my second year of my first term on the Parish Council and I look forward to helping out the parish in ways that further enrich our parishioners’ lives.  I count my blessings every day for all that OLF and its’ staff have done for me and I look forward to returning what I can and helping where I can.

I have been a member of Our Lady of the Fields since 1973.  I was married to my husband Steve here, and all of our 7 children were baptized and raised in this parish. My parents and siblings are also members of OLF.  I have a physical therapy private practice in my home that keeps me busy.

In the parish, I have taught faith formation and confirmation for several years.  I have participated in Why Catholic and the Holy Spirit seminars, and helped with Winter Relief.  Steve and I both are Cursillistas, although we have not been active recently. I am interested in helping the parish council foster family formation, keep alive the history of our parish, and continue to help our many Christ-centered ministries thrive.

I grew up in a military family as a lifelong Catholic. I moved to Maryland in 2005 where I've spent my career  engineering life saving devices for our soldiers.

My wife and I joined the parish in 2008 when we moved to Crofton. We recently  baptized our first son, Luke. I have been serving Our Lady of the Fields as a eucharistic minister for the past year.

If elected to serve on the parish council, I would bring the enthusiasm and concerns of a young  parent as well as the analytical discipline of an engineer.

Ray Feigl, a life-long Catholic, has been a parishioner of Our Lady of the Fields since 2003.  Ray and his wife, Mary Lou, were married in May, 1981 and have lived in Severn since 1997.  They’ve raised two sons, Jeff and Brady.  Jeff and his new wife, Emily, were married at Our Lady of the Fields on October 2, 2010.  Brady is a Junior at Mount Saint Mary’s University.

Ray served as the Secretary (1997–1998), President (1999-2001), and Treasurer (2002-2003) of the Gambrills Odenton Recreation Council (GORC) and played a major role in saving and rebuilding the Organization after an extremely difficult financial crisis. Ray successfully helped guide GORC during a very challenging time and steered the organization as it incorporated new technology into its management practices.

Employed by the Department of Defense since 2003, Ray also has over 25 years experience in personal finances, mortgage lending and underwriting, bank audit and quality control.  In today’s tough economic times, Ray hopes to bring some of his financial skills to Our Lady of the Fields in its planning and management.

In his free time, Ray is an avid baseball fan, umpires with the Anne Arundel Umpires Association, and enjoys camping trips with Mary Lou.

I am Carol Jones and am currently in my fourth year of serving on our Parish Council.  My husband of thirty years is Ron Jones and we have three children.  We have been members of Our Lady of the Fields for approximately seven years.  Our Lady of the Fields has become a second family for us.  Through participation in various groups, my husband and I have been blessed to have made such great friendships with fellow parishioners.

I continue to grow spiritually by being surrounded by wonderful individuals who actively serve our parish in some capacity.  Presently, besides serving on the parish council, I am coordinator of the Walking With Purpose bible study and serve as a Hospice volunteer.  In the past, I have visited shut-ins from our parish and have also served as a Eucharistic Minister.

I have a B.S. degree in Management Information Systems from George Mason University.  I thank you for voting for me to serve as your representative on the Parish Council.  I consider it an honor to see our parish grow in ways that continually welcomes new parishioners, while simultaneously meeting the needs, both spiritually and physically, of our existing parishioners.

As the parish experiences a significant transition in the months ahead, I believe the Pastoral Council will, more than ever, play a critical role in helping to ensure Our Lady of the Fields continues to be the exceptional parish community that is has always been. My family came to the parish close to 20 years ago and were immediately impressed by the variety of ministries and programs for all ages and the warm hospitality extended to all. I have served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist for many years and a Guardian of the Hour with the more recent establishment of Eucharistic Adoration in the parish chapel.  I also serve on the Hospitality Committee and prepare monthly casseroles for Our Daily Bread.  Finally, I am a member of the Holy Name Society.

On a personal note, my wife Lou Anne and I have been married for almost 33 years and are the proud parents of four grown children and grandparents of three wonderful grandchildren. This year, I celebrate the 30th anniversary of  my employment with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. where I am a management and administration director in the Department of Migration and Refugee Services.  I consider it a privilege to serve the bishops in this organizational development capacity and it allows me to see the inner workings and many positive contributions of the Church from a unique position. I would hope to bring this perspective to the Council in whatever ways it may be beneficial.

I thank you my fellow parishioners for making this parish such a welcoming community filled with faith, hope, and love and would be grateful to serve as one of your representatives in leadership on the Pastoral Council.

I am a life-long, local Catholic and have been a member of Our Lady of the Fields parish since moving to Severn in 2002. My wife (Dawn) and I were married in Saint Jane France de Chantal in 1985 and were parishioners of Holy Trinity from 1993 until joining OLF. Our daughter, Laura, was a member of the Lifeteen music group for several years before heading off to college.

My family has been involved in various OLF missions throughout the years but this is the first time I have submitted my name for consideration for the Parish Council. Knowing that we are all called to support our faith through our time, talent, and treasures, I believe that I can help OLF with my technology experience and expertise.

I am a Software Engineer with nearly 30 years of technology experience. I have developed numerous web pages, networked systems, and various databases (I created the original automated report card system for Arthur Slade Regional Catholic School in the late 1990s.) I am happy to serve the OLF community!

My wife Rosa and I have been members of Our Lady of the Fields parish for about 15 years, maybe longer. I'm the lead minister and founder of the Cancer Rosary.

I also provide Minister of Care services at Knollwood Manor Nursing Home, Millersville. Rosa is a member of the Parish Landscape Committee.

The inspiration for sharing the Cancer Rosary came from my daughter Jennifer Marie Thomas. She was diagnosed with melanoma cancer Feb. 3, 2010. I composed the rosary with input and encouragement from Jennifer while she underwent inpatient treatment. Although our prayers for a cure to Jennifer's cancer were not answered, many of the rosary bead prayers were answered. I believe that an increase in devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and adoration of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist will obtain the blessing of lasting true cures for all cancers.

I am a graduate of Vincent Pallotti High School and hold a BS Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland.  I am a retired Maryland State Police Lieutenant with 27 years of service. Subsequent to this,  I served 13 years with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services,  first as the Facility Administrator and Commander of the Herman L. Toulson Correctional Boot Camp and then as the Executive Director of the Central  Home Detention Unit.  My state service spanned 40 years.

I live in Shipley's Choice with my wife Susan. We have one daughter living in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter. After years of attending Mass at The Catholic University of America, my wife Susan and I decided to become members of our local parish. So two years ago we attended our first Mass at Our Lady of the Fields and we knew this is where we belonged. It was like coming back home. Since becoming a member of the parish, I have been involved with RCIA, being an Adoration Guardian, and small group leader for Understanding the Revised Mass Texts. While this involvement has been very rewarding, I would like the opportunity to serve more intensely on the parish council.

I have 48 years of varied experience. I served in the United States Marine Corps and I'm a Vietnam Veteran. After discharge I worked at Georgetown University until I joined IBM as a software engineer and worked my way to mid-level system engineering management. When IBM sold their federal systems business to Lockheed Martin, I joined that team as a program manager. After 25 years, I retired as a senior program manager. My experience included technical design and implementation, team leadership, quality control, operational management, people management, financial management, contract management, international business, strategic planning and policy development. After retirement I became involved with Veteran and community non-profit volunteer activities. As a member of the Anne Arundel County Detachment of the Marine Corps League, I served multiple years as the detachment commandant. I also was the regional coordinator for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program in Anne Arundel and Howard counties. I am a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as the commander of VFW Post 160. Currently I am the post's quartermaster. I have also volunteered as a Maryland certified mediator and facilitator at the Anne Arundel County Conflict Resolution Center. During my four years with the center, I was elected the president of the board for AACCRC.

If you grant me the privilege of serving on the council, I will give my time, my experience and strength of my faith to further enrich our parish community life and that feeling of "this is where we belong" for all new parishioners.

My wife, Juliet, and I relocated to this area in 2006 and like most, visited many local catholic parishes the first month.  We were drawn to the great sense of community at Our Lady of the Fields, the heartfelt gospels at each mass, and the expansive number of parish organizations and ministries.

The parish community was so welcoming, that I was inspired to support this “giving” community by volunteering to serve on the Pastoral Council.  In my first term on the Council, I desire to serve our community well, while applying my faith, my god-given talents, and my service to the fullest level in honor of Him.  I appreciate the trust and support everyone has shown to me through the election.

My wife and I were involved in our previous parish, St Mary of the Mills, before resting here at Our Lady of the Fields.  We have been active in Sarah’s House, Winter Relief, Why Catholic, and feed the homeless programs.

I am currently a Colonel with nearly 25 years active military service with the Air National Guard and reside in Crownsville with my wife, Juliet, and son, Julian (8).  I want to give a shout out to our son who is about to receive his first holy communion.  Congratulations, Julian, and God bless you! We also have a daughter, Olivia (28), and four grandchildren (Whew!).  I hold a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in human resource management.
