Every journey begins with a first step – and that is surely true for all who undertake the journey of faith as disciples of Jesus! The great “first step” we take occurs on the day of our baptism and is followed by a lifetime of “next steps” that draw us closer to Jesus and to each other as a community of faith, the Church.
Growth and development in spiritual life is a constant, life-long journey of prayer and worship, learning and serving. It includes our efforts to live as grateful and generous stewards of the countless blessings that come to us from our loving and gracious God.
Each year our annual Stewardship Appeal gives me the opportunity to offer my heartfelt thanks for the “steps” you have so generously taken in sharing your time, talent and treasure which help to make so much great ministry happen here at our parish.
Today, I reach out to encourage you to renew and strengthen your commitment by Taking the Next Step in support of our weekly Offertory Collection. Please take a look at the enclosed sacrificial giving chart and prayerfully consider if you will Take the Next Step, even a small one, by moving to the next step up. For example, if you’re presently giving 2%, consider 2.5% or even 3%. Know that I, too, will be taking a “next step” in my own giving as a member of our parish community.
At Masses this weekend, we will have the opportunity to reflect upon our commitments to God and to our wonderful parish, how we might strengthen them.
May God’s Peace be Yours,
Monsignor Jay O’Connor
