LifeTeen
Welcome to Our Lady of the Fields Life Teen,
LifeTeen is a Youth Ministry program that fosters the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth of 9th through 12th graders in a Catholic environment. LifeTeen is an international Catholic movement that serves the Church by providing resources and faith experiences that help lead teens closer to Christ. This is accomplished through a vibrant Eucharistic liturgy and by creating opportunities for teens to grow in their faith. Currently, more than 1,050 parishes in 22 countries implement the LifeTeen model.
The LifeTeen Mass at Our Lady of the Fields is celebrated every Sunday at 6pm and is open to everyone. This mass includes: upbeat contemporary music, teens serving as Eucharistic ministers, lectors and ushers, and preaching directed toward a teen congregation. Teens are even invited to worship together in the front six pews. Following each LifeTeen mass is a LifeNight which is an opportunity for teens to go deeper in their Catholic faith, share their faith with their peers through witness talks and interactive discussion, and learn more about issues facing teens today. A core-group of adults and teens work together to create an upbeat and exciting atmosphere for the LifeNights. Food is always served and friends are always welcome.
In addition to the LifeTeen Mass and our LifeNights, the program offers many other ways to participate including: retreats, bonfires, mission trips, luaus, coffeehouses, service projects (feeding the homeless on Fridays), lock-outs, lock-ins, adventure trips (skiing and whitewater rafting), pilgrimages, bible studies, video game tournaments, and more! Advice for Newcomers –
1. Take a Chance – Don’t be afraid to meet new people. Life Teen has some really awesome teens and amazing Core Team Members. Come by yourself, or bring your friends (they don’t have to be Catholic).
2. Get Involved – Our LifeTeen program offers something for everyone. Look for our events in the Sunday bulletin, on the LifeTeen bulletin board (in the lower level foyer), and on the LifeTeen table (in the breezeway outside of church).
Here is what some of the teens are saying -
"LifeTeen has become my home away from home on Sundays. There's nowhere I'd rather hang out and nothing I'd rather be doing."
"Where else but LifeTeen can I be doing goofy hand motions and NOT be considered weird?"
"I totally credit LifeTeen with the growth I've had in my faith life this year. I've learned a ton about God and I've never been bored there."
"Coming to LifeNights really helped me understand my faith and helped me grow in my love for God. I got to spend a lot of my time with my friends who loved God as much as I did. Now, it's the highlight of my week!"
