There are many ministries and committees that thrive within our parish – some of which require occasional participation, and others which entail regular attention and service. One does not become a parishioner simply by attending Sunday Mass. Your involvement in one of our ministries and committees will not only enrich your life, but will reinvigorate the communion of faith at Our Lady of the Fields.
The Church Decorating Group provides and places floral, wreath, and other appropriate church decorations for special occasions and feast days such as Christmas and Easter. Please contact Cathy Demski at 410-923-6399.
The purpose of the Linens Group is to wash and iron the linens used at all the church Masses.
Faith Formation is a major parish mission that provides systematic, age-appropriate opportunities for spiritual growth and enrichment to students, pre-school through grade twelve. Please consider becoming a catechist or catechist assistant by sharing your time and faith with children and youth of the parish. The Grieving Persons’ Support Group reaches out to comfort the grieving in our parish and surrounding community by sponsoring activities to support those who are experiencing grief that comes with the loss of a loved one. Please contact Susan Harvey at 443-679-8437.
The Holy Name Society is an organization dedicated to being a vibrant ministry of the parish by promoting spiritual growth and service at Our Lady of the Fields. It is open to all members of the parish. Visit their webpage to learn more.
The purpose of the Landscaping Group is to create a setting for God’s House and a celebration of His gifts of beautiful flowers, trees, and shrubs. We maintain a well-groomed landscape around the church grounds that is attractive to parishioners and guests alike.
The purpose of the Ministry of Care is to celebrate Communion of the Sick with parishioners who are unable to attend regular liturgy. This ministry provides the sick and home-bound a sense of community and belonging. The Ministers of Care can bring Holy Communion to those individuals who are not able to attend Mass. If you or someone you know is unable to attend Mass and would like to receive Holy Communion at home, hospital, assisted living, nursing home, or rehabilitation center, please call the parish office at 410-923-7060.
The Money Counters are responsible for the entire process of money handling (counting money/checks to bank-ready deposit) at all Masses where collections take place.
Parish Office Co-workers assist the office staff by performing clerical, secretarial, and receptionist work in Our Lady of the Fields Parish Office on a fully voluntary basis.
The Parish Pastoral Council accepts responsibility with the pastor for the life and mission of our Church. As such, this Council acts as an authentic representative voice of the people of God (lay, religious and clerical) to the pastor. The council members are elected by a vote of the parishioners.
The Rosary Making Group makes rosaries and distributes them to the world missions. They provide the needed materials and instruct those who wish to help make them. Also, various members of this group keep alive a long-standing tradition at Our Lady of the Fields by leading recitation of the rosary after daily Mass. Please contact Patty Bradley at 410-923-2106.
This newly-formed ministry supports other active parish groups at Our Lady of the Fields by providing sewn products to help those in need. Some of the sewing projects include baby sacks and blankets for Walking with Moms in Need, hats and scarves for the homeless at St. Vincent de Paul in Baltimore, and tote bags for various ministries. You don’t have to be a skilled seamstress to join…we can provide beginners with simple, easy-to-learn sewing projects. For more information, please contact Kathy Butcher.
The Vestments and Maintenance Group keeps the albs of the altar servers clean and in good repair.
Members of the Liturgy Committee plan the implementation of the instructions provided by Rome for the proper celebration of the Sacraments. They also plan the decorations for our worship spaces according to the liturgical season.
The Funeral Reception Committee arranges a buffet reception following funeral services at Our Lady of the Fields. They provide a rewarding service that is deeply appreciated.
The Cemetery Committee supervises the operation, record-keeping systems, and policies for Our Lady of the Fields Parish Cemetery. Thank you for honoring the birth of CHRIST by decorating your loved one’s final resting place. It is very important to discard glass, breakable items, or anything that if broken can cut or puncture, also, metal devices and special ornaments throughout the year. The Finance Committee supervises and accounts for the income and expenses of the parish. They also advise and assist the pastor with parish financial matters.
The Hospitality Committee sponsors a social gathering in the Parish Center once a month after each Sunday Mass. Coffee, juice, and doughnuts are served. It is an opportunity for parishioners to build community spirit and get to know one another.
The purpose of the Social Committee is to organize and sponsor different events throughout the year that brings parishioners together in a social atmosphere. They sponsor such annual events as the Valentine Dinner Dance and Crab Feast. They also organize our annual Parish Festival, a fun-filled entertainment event that celebrates cultural diversity within our church community. It is held annually in the spring on the church grounds.
